Sen. Hillary Clinton has called it quits, 502 days after launching what at the time seemed an unstoppable bid for the presidency. On Saturday, she spoke in Washington, D.C., promising to work her heart out to help Sen. Barack Obama win in November. But not all of her supporters were eager to follow suit.

Rowling's Harvard Speech Doesn't Entrance All
J.K. Rowling gave the commencement address at Harvard on Thursday. While some graduates were giddy to hear from the Harry Potter author, others grumbled. They noted that Harvard is known for inviting heavy hitters, like Bill Gates, to address students.

Bush Discusses Iran Sanctions with EU Leaders
In what is likely his final trip to Europe as president, George Bush is pushing familiar themes, discussing with European Union leaders the possibility of more sanctions if Iran does not stop trying to enrich uranium. Iran insists it has only civilian uses in mind for its nuclear pursuits.
NASA's Phoenix Set to Touch Down on Red Planet
The Mars Phoenix probe is scheduled to touch down on Mars around 7:53 Eastern Time on Sunday. If all goes well, it will land near the red planet's north pole. There, it will sample the ice that lies just beneath the surface. On-board instruments will analyze the ice and will look for signs of life.

South Korea Protests Target U.S. Beef, Closer Ties
South Korean protesters took to the streets this week, angry over a new trade deal that would allow the importation of U.S. beef. Fears of mad cow disease prompted a ban on U.S. beef several years ago. South Korean trade officials visiting Washington this week are hoping to reach a compromise that will calm fears at home.

Deadly Airstrike Strains U.S.-Pakistan Relations
Pakistan is strongly protesting a U.S. airstrike that it says killed 11 soldiers at a border post. The men were part of the Frontier Corps serving on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. The incident is straining an already tense relationship between the countries.

McCain Fundraising Surges After Palin Named VP
Sarah Palin was thought to be a pick of potentially high risk and high reward when she was named John McCain's running mate. So far, the reward has been that she has galvanized the base and boosted the campaign's fundraising. But the potential risks of a largely unknown candidate also were on display Monday.

Police shot and killed a man wanted in 4 killings in Georgia
Law enforcement said Andre Longmore was shot after an intense manhunt. A sheriff's deputy and a police officer were injured trying to take the suspect into custody, authorities said.
