On today’s WTJX Radio NewsFeed: It was a golden weekend for the Virgin Islands as the Women Senior National Basketball Team captured gold at the FIBA Caribbean Basketball Confederation Championship in Guyana while 19-year-old fencer Kruz Schembri McCord earned two gold medals at the Epee Cadet-Junior World Cup in San José, Costa Rica. We spoke with the coach and players of the women's basketball team after they won their final game of the tournament against Bahamas. Governor Albert Bryan Jr. nominated attorney Pedro K. Williams to serve as a Superior Court Judge for the St. Thomas/St. John District. An early morning fire in Frederiksted on Sunday destroyed the second floor of the historic building housing Luv’n STX and damaging the downstairs neighbor, Lost Dog Pub. Marcellina Ventura-Douglas

Marcellina Ventura-Douglas is the Radio News Reporter for WTJX-FM, 93.1. She was born and raised on the island of St. Croix, where her grandfather founded the historic newspaper, The St. Croix Avis. Marcellina earned her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from the University of the Virgin Islands, also working in the office of Senator Shawn-Michael Malone while she attended school. After leaving Malone's office, Marcellina went on to serve as program director of Vivid Streaming before working for the Virgin Islands National Guard as a Family Assistance Center Specialist from 2017 to 2018, where she supported service members and their families following Hurricanes Irma and Maria. She then joined WTJX-TV, Channel 12 as a producer, but was soon tapped to switch to WTJX-FM to deliver local evening news through the WTJX NewsFeed, airing every weekday at 5:00 pm on 93.1 FM and available on demand, wherever you get your podcasts.   <br/>Email: mvdouglas@wtjx.org<br/>Phone: (340) 474-1682
