On today’s WTJX Radio NewsFeed: VIHFA approved more than $11 million dollars in federal disaster-mitigation funding for two major housing developments, including a $7.5 million award for the Residences at 340 North, which developer Ajani Corneiro says brings hurricane-resilient, affordable homes for first-time buyers. Police are investigating a shooting that occurred Saturday evening in Frederiksted following the Crucian Christmas Festival Adults' parade, leaving one person injured. Police on St. Thomas are investigating a New Year’s Day shooting in Estate Contant that left one man hospitalized with multiple gunshot wounds. Governor Albert Bryan Jr. is set to deliver his eighth and final State of the Territory Address on January 26 from the Earle B. Ottley Legislative Hall on St. Thomas. Marcellina Ventura-Douglas is the Radio News Reporter for WTJX-FM, 93.1. Born and raised on St. Croix, Ventura-Douglas graduated from the University of the Virgin Islands, where she received her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. While at UVI, she worked in the office of Senator Shawn-Michael Malone before beginning her career in radio. Ventura-Douglas fell in love with radio growing up, when she and her father would spend every morning and afternoon listening to local radio news legend, Alvin G. After leaving Senator Malone's office, she became the program director of Vivid Streaming. She then joined WTJX-TV, Channel 12 as a producer. Soon after, she was tapped to switch to WTJX-FM to present an evening news.
