On today’s WTJX Radio NewsFeed: Joanie Phillip, a 6th grade teacher at Ricardo Richards Elementary School, has been named the Virgin Islands State Teacher of the Year. Dispute is growing over the Virgin Islands Port Authority’s proposed airport redevelopment plan, as major airlines challenge the billion-dollar public-private partnership while VIPA defends the project and its ongoing negotiations. A St. Croix woman is facing multiple charges after police say a domestic dispute escalated into an alleged assault involving knives, property damage, and a forced entry into an apartment. Marcellina Ventura-Douglas is the Radio News Reporter for WTJX-FM, 93.1.She was born and raised on the island of St. Croix, where her grandfather founded&nbsp;the&nbsp;historic&nbsp;newspaper, The&nbsp;St. Croix Avis.&nbsp;Marcellina earned her&nbsp;bachelor’s degree in criminal justice&nbsp;from the University of the Virgin Islands,&nbsp;also&nbsp;working in the office of Senator Shawn-Michael Malone while she attended school.&nbsp;After leaving Malone's office,&nbsp;Marcellina&nbsp;went on to serve as program director of Vivid Streaming before working for the Virgin Islands National Guard as a Family Assistance Center Specialist from 2017 to 2018, where she supported service members and their families following Hurricanes Irma and Maria.&nbsp;She then joined WTJX-TV, Channel 12 as a producer, but was soon&nbsp;tapped to switch to WTJX-FM to deliver local evening news through the WTJX NewsFeed, airing every weekday at 5:00 pm on 93.1 FM and available on demand, wherever you get your&nbsp;podcasts.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br/>Email: mvdouglas@wtjx.org<br/>Phone: (340) 474-1682
