On today’s WTJX Radio NewsFeed: WAPA crews were working on a water main break in Charlotte Amalie that disrupted service and forced school closures and schedule changes today, while also separately working to restore power in the STT/STJ District, which is operating on a rotation schedule following a generation failure at the Randolph Harley Power Plant yesterday. The Virgin Islands Department of Education is tightening its rules on cellphone use in public schools, issuing a new Personal Electronic Communication Device Policy for the 2025–2026 school year. The attorney for Daryl Jean-Baptiste — the man convicted of involuntary manslaughter in a 2019 crash — is asking the court to disqualify Judge Yvette Ross-Edwards from presiding over his sentencing, citing her former law firm’s ties to a related wrongful death lawsuit.
