On today’s WTJX Radio NewsFeed: Senator Marise James announced she will not be seeking reelection. A gas leak at the Randolph Harley Power Plant on St. Thomas forced WAPA to evacuate workers and shut down several generation units today. The Virgin Islands Department of Education has launched an investigation into “serious past allegations” at Joseph Gomez Elementary School, after reports link a longtime administrator to sexual misconduct claims. Superior Court Judge Sigrid Tejo has issued an injunction against the Virgin Islands Police Benevolent Association, ruling that July’s officer sick-out amounted to an illegal strike by essential employees and posed a threat to public safety. Marcellina Ventura-Douglas

Marcellina Ventura-Douglas is the Radio News Reporter for WTJX-FM, 93.1.She was born and raised on the island of St. Croix, where her grandfather founded the historic newspaper, The St. Croix Avis. Marcellina earned her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from the University of the Virgin Islands, also working in the office of Senator Shawn-Michael Malone while she attended school. After leaving Malone's office, Marcellina went on to serve as program director of Vivid Streaming before working for the Virgin Islands National Guard as a Family Assistance Center Specialist from 2017 to 2018, where she supported service members and their families following Hurricanes Irma and Maria. She then joined WTJX-TV, Channel 12 as a producer, but was soon tapped to switch to WTJX-FM to deliver local evening news through the WTJX NewsFeed, airing every weekday at 5:00 pm on 93.1 FM and available on demand, wherever you get your podcasts.  <br/>Email: mvdouglas@wtjx.org<br/>Phone: (340) 474-1682
