On today’s WTJX Radio NewsFeed: Our contributing reporter Isabelle Teare recaps the morning's proceedings as the trial of former Virgin Islands Senator Steven Payne Sr. began today in Duval County, Florida. Payne faces charges of sexual battery involving a minor. Following the news that November SNAP benefits will be disrupted due to the federal government shutdown, Governor Albert Bryan Jr. directed his administration to use local funds to provide half of the month’s food assistance benefits to local recipients. The move follows Senate President Milton Potter’s call for emergency legislation to use the Rainy Day fund for social programs if the shutdown persists. Listen to these stories and more.
