On today’s WTJX Radio NewsFeed: The U.S. Coast Guard and St. John Rescue responded to a grounded and partially submerged catamaran near Christmas Cove, St. Thomas. A Florida judge has denied former Senator Steven Payne Sr.’s request for a new trial in his sexual battery case, clearing the way for sentencing — now pushed to December 10. Defense attorneys for former VIPD Commissioner Ray Martinez are asking a federal judge to allow presentation of the government’s star witness history of convictions, arguing Daivid Whitaker's credibility is central to the corruption case involving alleged bribes. Former assistant principal at the Joseph Gomez Elementary School on St. Thomas, Clifton D. Boyd, was arrested today and charged with sexually assaulting a male student during the 2019–2020 school year.
