On today’s WTJX Radio NewsFeed: Following the Schneider Regional Medical Center warning of longer Emergency Room wait times, Senate Vice President Kenneth Gittens says he is calling for an emergency meeting with hospital leaders on St. Croix and St. Thomas, citing worsening operational, financial, and workforce conditions at the Territory’s hospitals. A St. Thomas woman has filed a civil lawsuit seeking to enforce a 2009 workers’ compensation judgment against the Virgin Islands Department of Labor that she claims has gone unpaid for more than 15 years. First responders on St. Croix rescued an injured hiker from the Tide Pools, as crews were simultaneously responding to the deadly shark attack that claimed the life of 56-year-old Arlene Lillis of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota who was snorkeling at Dorsch Beach Thursday afternoon. Marcellina Ventura-Douglas is the Radio News Reporter for WTJX-FM, 93.1. Born and raised on St. Croix, Ventura-Douglas graduated from the University of the Virgin Islands, where she received her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. While at UVI, she worked in the office of Senator Shawn-Michael Malone before beginning her career in radio. Ventura-Douglas fell in love with radio growing up, when she and her father would spend every morning and afternoon listening to local radio news legend, Alvin G. After leaving Senator Malone's office, she became the program director of Vivid Streaming. She then joined WTJX-TV, Channel 12 as a producer. Soon after, she was tapped to switch to WTJX-FM to present an evening news.
