On today’s WTJX Radio NewsFeed: Lawmakers advanced a bill that would rename Hull Bay Road on the Northside of St. Thomas Lorraine L. Berry Drive after the late former senator. A federal judge has denied former Sports, Parks and Recreation Commissioner Calvert White’s request to serve his five-year prison sentence at a minimum-security facility in Montgomery, Alabama. Members of the Virgin Islands community are mourning the death of Dr. Ralph A. deChabert, a longtime physician and community leader from St. Croix who died on Friday. He was 95 years old. And the Virgin Islands government’s eviction battle with Island Laundries remains stalled in Superior Court after the recusal from the case of another judge. Listen to these stories and more.

Isabelle Teare is a new member of the WTJX team. She is a recent graduate of Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism, where she specialized in radio broadcast and audio storytelling. Raised on the island of St. Thomas since the age of seven, Isabelle attended and graduated from Antilles School before moving to Washington, D.C. where she earned her bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University in Justice and Peace Studies. Originally planning on pursuing a career in the law, Isabelle worked as a paralegal on St. Thomas for several years before making the decision to pursue her passion for storytelling.
