On today’s WTJX Radio NewsFeed: Former Sports, Parks and Recreation Commissioner Calvert White began serving his five-year federal prison sentence at the Federal Correctional Institution of Miami after being convicted of bribery and honest services wire fraud. Governor Albert Bryan Jr. is asking Virgin Islanders to provide receipts and documentation to help the territory secure a federal waiver from new postal fees that have increased shipping costs resulting from the suspension of the de minimis exemption. We speak with Senator Marvin Blyden who is urging local gas retailers not to use global tensions as justification for keeping fuel prices high, urging regulators to monitor potential price gouging and ensure consumers are not unfairly burdened despite shifts in global oil markets. Marcellina Ventura-Douglas is the Radio News Reporter for WTJX-FM, 93.1.She was born and raised on the island of St. Croix, where her grandfather founded the historic newspaper, The St. Croix Avis. Marcellina earned her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from the University of the Virgin Islands, also working in the office of Senator Shawn-Michael Malone while she attended school. After leaving Malone's office, Marcellina went on to serve as program director of Vivid Streaming before working for the Virgin Islands National Guard as a Family Assistance Center Specialist from 2017 to 2018, where she supported service members and their families following Hurricanes Irma and Maria. She then joined WTJX-TV, Channel 12 as a producer, but was soon tapped to switch to WTJX-FM to deliver local evening news through the WTJX NewsFeed, airing every weekday at 5:00 pm on 93.1 FM and available on demand, wherever you get your podcasts.  <br/>Email: mvdouglas@wtjx.org<br/>Phone: (340) 474-1682
