On today’s WTJX Radio NewsFeed: Former senator and longtime public servant John A. Bell, passed away this morning at the age of 94 after a long battle with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. The Virgin Islands Energy Office launched the Virgin Islands Resiliency Grid Enhancement program, VIRGE, a new initiative designed to provide backup power solutions to vulnerable residents ahead of the 2026 hurricane season. Seniors from the St. Croix Central High School and the St. Croix Educational Complex were recognized at Government House during an Our Community Salutes ceremony, honoring their decision to enlist in the U.S. Armed Forces. Safiyah Wharton was crowned the 2026 St. Thomas Carnival Queen. Listen to these stories and more.

Marcellina Ventura-Douglas is the Radio News Reporter for WTJX-FM, 93.1.She was born and raised on the island of St. Croix, where her grandfather founded the historic newspaper, The St. Croix Avis. Marcellina earned her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from the University of the Virgin Islands, also working in the office of Senator Shawn-Michael Malone while she attended school. After leaving Malone's office, Marcellina went on to serve as program director of Vivid Streaming before working for the Virgin Islands National Guard as a Family Assistance Center Specialist from 2017 to 2018, where she supported service members and their families following Hurricanes Irma and Maria. She then joined WTJX-TV, Channel 12 as a producer, but was soon tapped to switch to WTJX-FM to deliver local evening news through the WTJX NewsFeed, airing every weekday at 5:00 pm on 93.1 FM and available on demand, wherever you get your podcasts.  <br/>Email: mvdouglas@wtjx.org<br/>Phone: (340) 474-1682
