On today’s WTJX Radio NewsFeed: VIFEMS Director Antonio Stevens says the department has reached out to the Justice Department to strengthen communication with the courts and agencies after lawmakers questioned why a former firefighter continued receiving paychecks months after being sentenced to prison. Police are investigating the discovery of a deceased man found early this morning beside a vehicle in the Mahogany Run Villas area of St. Thomas. Senate Vice President Kenneth Gittens is proposing emergency legislation to temporarily consolidate territorial law enforcement personnel under VIPD command in response to the recent surge in violent crime across the Virgin Islands. Marcellina Ventura-Douglas is the Radio News Reporter for WTJX-FM, 93.1.She was born and raised on the island of St. Croix, where her grandfather founded&nbsp;the&nbsp;historic&nbsp;newspaper, The&nbsp;St. Croix Avis.&nbsp;Marcellina earned her&nbsp;bachelor’s degree in criminal justice&nbsp;from the University of the Virgin Islands,&nbsp;also&nbsp;working in the office of Senator Shawn-Michael Malone while she attended school.&nbsp;After leaving Malone's office,&nbsp;Marcellina&nbsp;went on to serve as program director of Vivid Streaming before working for the Virgin Islands National Guard as a Family Assistance Center Specialist from 2017 to 2018, where she supported service members and their families following Hurricanes Irma and Maria.&nbsp;She then joined WTJX-TV, Channel 12 as a producer, but was soon&nbsp;tapped to switch to WTJX-FM to deliver local evening news through the WTJX NewsFeed, airing every weekday at 5:00 pm on 93.1 FM and available on demand, wherever you get your&nbsp;podcasts.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br/>Email: mvdouglas@wtjx.org<br/>Phone: (340) 474-1682
