On today’s WTJX Radio NewsFeed, the territory records another homicide, after 42-year-old Alex A. Burgos was shot and killed this morning at Sunny Isle Shopping Center on St. Croix. U.S. Attorney Delia L. Smith announced today that all Department of Justice agencies in the U.S. Virgin Islands are collaborating to enforce the January 20, 2025, Executive Order, "Protecting the American People Against Invasion," by prosecuting illegal entrants and strengthening border security efforts. A plane heading to the British Virgin Islands was forced to make an emergency landing at the Cyril E. King airport on St. Thomas, shutting down the runway and closing the airport for hours. And the Virgin Islands Department of Health warns of a potential measles outbreak due to low vaccination numbers in the territory. Listen to these stories and more.

Isabelle Teare is a new member of the WTJX team. She is a recent graduate of Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism, where she specialized in radio broadcast and audio storytelling. Raised on the island of St. Thomas since the age of seven, Isabelle attended and graduated from Antilles School before moving to Washington, D.C. where she earned her bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University in Justice and Peace Studies. Originally planning on pursuing a career in the law, Isabelle worked as a paralegal on St. Thomas for several years before making the decision to pursue her passion for storytelling.
