On today’s WTJX Radio NewsFeed: Tropical Shipping opened a new administrative and warehouse facility on St. Croix. Police are warning of a rise in vehicle thefts on St. Croix, particularly targeting women and Hyundai and Kia vehicles, while also urging the community to come forward with information as officers work to address a spike in recent crime. A St. Thomas company, B & B Manufacturing, is suing the government for more than $116,000, claiming excise taxes were unlawfully collected under an unconstitutional system. Marcellina Ventura-Douglas is the Radio News Reporter for WTJX-FM, 93.1. She was born and raised on the island of St. Croix, where her grandfather founded the historic newspaper, The St. Croix Avis. Marcellina earned her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from the University of the Virgin Islands, also working in the office of Senator Shawn-Michael Malone while she attended school. After leaving Malone's office, Marcellina went on to serve as program director of Vivid Streaming before working for the Virgin Islands National Guard as a Family Assistance Center Specialist from 2017 to 2018, where she supported service members and their families following Hurricanes Irma and Maria. She then joined WTJX-TV, Channel 12 as a producer, but was soon tapped to switch to WTJX-FM to deliver local evening news through the WTJX NewsFeed, airing every weekday at 5:00 pm on 93.1 FM and available on demand, wherever you get your podcasts.   <br/>Email: mvdouglas@wtjx.org<br/>Phone: (340) 474-1682
