On today's WTJX Radio NewsFeed: Lawmakers have advanced legislation to establish comprehensive care standards for the elderly and disabled in nursing homes and assisted living facilities, despite concerns over funding and implementation capacity. A St. Thomas man has been arrested and charged with multiple domestic violence offenses after his wife reported a week of escalating abuse, including strangulation, threats with a firearm, and a dramatic escape at the airport. Governor Albert Bryan Jr. is celebrating the reauthorization of the federal Opportunity Zone program, which he says will accelerate industrial investment and economic growth, particularly in key areas of St. Croix. The Virgin Islands Department of Education is celebrating 20 teachers from both districts earning master’s degrees in English to Speakers of Other Languages. Listen to these stories and more.

Marcellina Ventura-Douglas is the Radio News Reporter for WTJX-FM, 93.1.She was born and raised on the island of St. Croix, where her grandfather founded&nbsp;the&nbsp;historic&nbsp;newspaper, The&nbsp;St. Croix Avis.&nbsp;Marcellina earned her&nbsp;bachelor’s degree in criminal justice&nbsp;from the University of the Virgin Islands,&nbsp;also&nbsp;working in the office of Senator Shawn-Michael Malone while she attended school.&nbsp;After leaving Malone's office,&nbsp;Marcellina&nbsp;went on to serve as program director of Vivid Streaming before working for the Virgin Islands National Guard as a Family Assistance Center Specialist from 2017 to 2018, where she supported service members and their families following Hurricanes Irma and Maria.&nbsp;She then joined WTJX-TV, Channel 12 as a producer, but was soon&nbsp;tapped to switch to WTJX-FM to deliver local evening news through the WTJX NewsFeed, airing every weekday at 5:00 pm on 93.1 FM and available on demand, wherever you get your&nbsp;podcasts.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br/>Email: mvdouglas@wtjx.org<br/>Phone: (340) 474-1682
